The New Shade Structure Unveiled

EDS students and staff had their first lunch under the new shade structure. The shade structure is a product of the school’s ongoing commitment to continuous improvement and child comfort and safety. Thank you to all who made this valuable project possible!

Denim & Diamonds 2011

This year’s Denim and Diamonds was a grand event and a hugely successful fundraiser! EDS parents, alumni, former parents, and friends entered the IBC Bank Lobby to find it transformed into a western venue with a dazzling assortment of gift baskets for the silent auction, an open bar, the aroma of barbeque, the sounds of lively dance music, and the warm and friendly ambience that only EDS inspires! The evening included a dinner buffet and a live auction accompanied by delightful entertainment provided by our auctioneers.

The purpose of this Parent Booster Association-sponsored event was to fundraise for a shade structure that will double as an outdoor lunch area and classroom for our students. The American Academy of Dermatology selected The Episcopal Day School as the recipient of an $8000 grant, and the challenge of raising the balance was up to the PBA.

Our wonderful and capable parents can rally enthusiastically behind a cause when there is need for an improvement that will benefit their children, and so they were out in force! Due to the creativity and hard work on the part of the Denim and Diamonds Committee and the generosity of many donors and those in attendance, the net profit from Denim and Diamonds 2011 was $31,796! We are all thrilled about this accomplishment. The materials for the shade structure have been ordered and the lunch area/classroom should be ready to use sometime in December.

We thank Mrs. Ray and Mrs. Garza for a wonderful Fall Book Fair! They would like to thank all of the volunteers that helped throughout the Book Fair as well as all of the students, parents, relatives and friends that showed such great support. We can’t wait to see what they have planned for the Spring Book Fair!
